Far-Star Victoria Synopsis

Earth Past and a New Dawn

In the ashes of the Third World War, humanity pulled itself from the brink with sheer willpower and determination. The discoveries of powerful new energy sources and faster-than-light travel lit the darkness, and the dream of the stars became reality. The United Nations of Earth guided a battered world into The Great Recovery: an era of unity, discovery, and boundless ambition. In the year 2159, after nearly two years of travel, the colonial expedition ship UNS Asimov pierced the void and found more than a new sun; they found destiny.

The Victoria System, 190.4 light-years from Earth, cradled a rare miracle: two habitable worlds, Erebus and Elysium, circling the same golden star. On Elysium, seas sparkled and jungles beckoned; here, pioneers and free spirits carved out a paradise of promise and peril. Erebus, a frozen but mineral-rich wasteland, lured the bold and the hungry with the promise of Aetherium, an extraordinary rare crystalline element of unimaginable power, waiting beneath the barren soil.

Astraea Corporation claimed Erebus, forging a machine-world of miners, visionaries, and secrets. On Elysium, communities flourished in the warmth, supported by ingenuity, industry, and the hope of a new beginning. For a generation, both planets thrived in the light of Victoria, their fates intertwined by commerce, ambition, and the silent promise of Earth’s watchful eye.

The Event

Then, on an unremarkable Thursday night on December 13th, 2184, the universe went quiet.

The last message from Earth faded into static. Starships stopped coming. The two remaining FTL-capable ships from the Victoria system vanished into the cosmic dark after being sent to investigate, never to return. Panic swept the colonies. Isolation bred fear. With no rescue, no word, and dwindling supplies, the dreams of the colonies shattered. The Victorian System was now on its own, and no one knew why. The fate of Earth and the rest of humanity's colonies in the stars became a mystery never resolved.

As hope withered, chaos took root. Scarcity bred violence; factions rose and fell in the night. Civilization teetered on the edge of oblivion, and after three decades of misery and fights for survival, the memory of Earth started to become a myth whispered in the shadows.

The Long Climb Back

But humanity is hard to kill.

Out of the ruins, leaders and survivors clawed order from anarchy. On Erebus, Astraea’s iron will restored discipline and kept the machines running. On Elysium, scattered communities united, forging pacts to share food, shelter, and knowledge. They realized the truth: they might be the last of their kind.

With the space-worthy cargo vessels still remaining on both planets, a mutually beneficial treaty was established between the worlds of Victoria. Elysium, the breadbasket, sent grain and hope across the void. Erebus returned Steam, the distilled essence of Aetherium, a new lifeblood for industry and survival. Together, they swore an oath: civilization would endure, and the legacy of Earth would not be lost to the stars.

Current Events and the Status Quo

Now, in the year 2512, the worlds of Victoria endure, but the dreams of the original colonists is forever tarnished.

Elysium, once a beacon of progress, has fallen back to the era of steam and steel. Airships drift above wild frontiers; warlords and visionaries build and break nations in the shadow of lost wonders. Salvaged relics whisper of a brighter past, but knowledge slips further from memory with every passing year.

On Erebus, Astraea rules with a velvet fist. The people live by the schedule of the machines and the ration book. Technology lingers, but innovation is a rumor. Beneath the surface, unrest simmers, resistance, sabotage, and the ever-present fear that the last high-tech engines may one day fall silent.

Trust between worlds is stretched to the breaking point. Skirmishes spark on the trade routes, and accusations of betrayal fly as freely as the airships. As dissent, scarcity, and ambition threaten the peace on the planets, the specter of interplanetary war looms, a war that could end the last chapter of humanity.

In this crucible, only the cunning, the bold, and the desperate can shape the future. Heroes and villains are forged in the fires of crisis. The fate of Far-Star Victoria, and perhaps the last hope of Earth’s forgotten children, hangs in the balance.
