The azarketi are a fascinating amphibious race, uniquely adapted to a dual existence in the water and on dry land. Born from the lineage of Post-Human colonists who chose to embrace the vast oceans, seas, and wetlands of the planet Elysium, the azarketi have evolved into a distinct species that reflects both their aquatic heritage and their adaptability. While they are often colloquially referred to as gillmen or merfolk due to their physical characteristics, the azarketi prefer the term “azarketi,” which translates roughly to “people of the seas” in their native tongue, highlighting their deep connection to oceanic environments.

Azarketis possess an elegant, athletic appearance that recalls the grace of their marine origins. Their soft, hydrophilic skin glistens with a stunning range of colors, from pearlescent white to vibrant shades of pink, green, and brown, mirroring the hues found in coral reefs. This remarkable skin not only serves aesthetic purposes but also plays a vital role in their lives, assisting with hydration and protection against the elements.
